About Me
Hi there! I'm so glad you stopped by to learn more about me.
I graduated from Drake University with my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in the spring of 2018. Before attending graduate school, I received my Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Iowa State University (ISU) in 2013. After graduating from ISU, I worked in a residential setting for adolescents needing more intensive care before returning home to their families. While working on my Master’s, I spent four years working in case management helping children, adolescents and families in the non–profit setting. In 2018 I finished completing my play therapy certificate. Becoming an adolescent-focused therapist was really sparked by having struggled with anxiety myself throughout middle and high school, even into my early adulthood.
Finding hope in talking with my counselor at a young age helped me see that anxiety was not in control of my life. I’m thankful for my own experiences, which allows me to connect with and validate each client's experiences. For the last five years, I have been working in the private practice realm, alongside leading groups one to two days a week with Renew’s Two Tents IOP program. Each day I love to connect with individuals and families to help them navigate the day-to-day challenges they are struggling with. I work to build a safe and secure therapeutic relationship with every client.
As a counselor, I believe it is my job to provide interventions and techniques for clients to be able to make those changes by taking on specific evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), play therapy, and more. I have worked with interns in a supervisor setting for about two years.
My free time consists of spending time with my husband and two toddlers, alongside our two golden retrievers, Henry and Emma. I love cheering on Iowa State and the Chiefs. This year, I’m trying my skills out in Fantasy Football and March Madness. If you can't find me at the office, I'm likely hiding out at the lake, sipping a cup of iced coffee.

APPROACH
Individual Counseling
I offer individual counseling for those who are seeking services to assist in their struggles, such as anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders. Often an individual needs someone to talk with about their current life concerns (stressful job, familial strain, financial constraints, peer stressors, school struggles, etc.) and to process specific thoughts, emotions, feelings, and more. Counseling is focused on individualized treatment to help each client achieve their own mental health goals. In addition, it allows us to process our current life stressors in a safe environment while learning strategies to implement outside of the therapeutic environment.
I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults, but love to work with all age ranges. I am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Play therapy, and more.
Play Therapy
What is it?
Play is a child's natural language and form of communication. It can be difficult for children to express what they are thinking or feeling verbally. Play therapy is a great way for children to express and process their thoughts and feelings in a non-threatening and stress-free environment.
Why?
Play therapy techniques can be used with a variety of ages, ranging from three through adulthood.
What does it look like?
Some therapeutic interventions include sand tray, puppets, art and more!
Clinical Supervision
I am a Kansas board-approved clinical supervisor for LPCs, offering in-person and telehealth supervision. My goal as a clinical supervisor is to support young clinicians as they become more confident in themselves and their clinical practice. I thoroughly enjoy working alongside supervisees as they work to attain their professional goals.
